Jack Herer Memorial Hemp Fest
As most of you may already know, the father of the modern hemp movement, Jack Herer, passed away this year. The tradition of hemp festivals in Kansas City is because of his tireless campaign to tell the public the truth about marijuana. Kansas City was blessed to have Jack Herer speak at a hemp festival and a tradition was born. In the past two decades, organizations have come and gone, but hemp fest has remained a stalwart tradition in Kansas City. The current KC NORML board voted unanimously to name this year's hemp festival in memory of Jack Herer as we continue the hemp festival tradition in 2010. We ask that you bring a candle to light in his honor at the end of the evening.
